Post Event Press Release AMERICAN YOUTH FOOTBALL'S NAPERVILLE PATRIOTS DEFEATED DEION SANDERS TRUTH SELECT TEAM 46-42 IN THE FIRST ANNUAL FUTURE BOWL As South Beach was heating up with Super Bowl festivities, it got even hotter in North Miami as the American Youth Football (AYF) Naperville Patriots defeated Deion Sanders’ Select TRUTH youth football team 46-42 with a titillating fourth quarter that came down to the final .1 seconds. Starting the half at 14-14, the TRUTH rallied to drive up the score to 42-30 with 5 minutes left to go on a running game clock. Encouraged by teammate, Peyton Mitchell, AYF kept the energy up. Running back Jaden Huff’s quick thinking and quick feet recovered a TRUTH fumble to run 60 yards to score a touchdown complimented by a two-point conversion. The defense held the TRUTH earning the Patriots the ball with less than 3 minutes to go on the game clock. After a beautiful passing play, with only 1:06 left, Doug DiFusco, Jr. caught a 26-yard post corner route to put AYF up by four. But the TRUTH wasn’t done. After a gut-wrenching set of three TRUTH first downs, the Patriots defense stepped it up. The game came down to .1 seconds left on the clock, and an aggressive Patriots defense that forced TRUTH Select out of bounds within inches of the endzone. “From an offensive standpoint the team’s preparation and adjustments at halftime allowed us to move the ball and score very quickly, as time became urgent. The defense needed to create turnovers which they did in a huge spot. The players and staff, having gone through three AYF National Championships, really did not feel pressure,” said head coach, Doug DiFusco. “We felt more a sense of urgency from a game tempo standpoint. As the pace quickened, we got the TRUTH on their heels and were able to capitalize with our passing attack quickly.” The day was capped off as the Title Sports Snoop Bowl VIII directly followed the conclusion of the Under Armour Future Bowl. The Snoop Bowl featured the Snoop Dogg All Stars, hailing from California taking on one of Miami’s local teams, coached by Dolphins linebacker Joe Porter and Buffalo wide receiver Terrell Owens. It was a star-studded event as all four teams of youth athletes were able to meet game attendees, including Will I Am from the Black Eyed Peas. The AYF Naperville Patriots, lead by head coach Doug Difusco is comprised of 12 and 13 year old athletes and earned the right to come to South Florida by winning back-to-back-to-back national championships at the AYF National Championships presented by Under Armour. The Naperville Patriots are one of the 16,000 teams nationwide that make up AYF, country’s largest youth football organization. Under Armour and the Miami Dolphins welcomed the youth athletes with open arms, outfitting the AYF athletes from head to toe in Miami Dolphins colors. In addition to the game, The FUTURE BOWL teams will also participate in other Super Bowl week festivities including testing their skills at an Under Armour Combine, and a visit to the NFL Game Day Plaza.
